We had a wonderful day, alongside our guests, at the 39th SOFHT Annual Lunch & Awards at The Brewery in London.
The annual lecture was presented by Kate Quilton who gave us fantastic insight into food journalism, her career in television and the effects of social media on the food industry.
Talking of the effects of social media, Kate made it clear that ‘The Delia effect’ has been overtaken and replaced by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Beyonce with their 240 million combined followers on Instagram. Kate told the audience of the omnipresence and influencing power of Jamie Oliver, and also enlightened us all into the world of Camel Milk and ‘Super-Prawn’ cultivation after investigating the likes of these subjects in her popular Channel 4 programme – Food Unwrapped.
The event raised thousands for its chosen charity, Cystic Fibrosis Care with an auction and a raffle.
Looking forward to next year!
